SAFETY CAMPAIGNS

CAMPAIGNS

FROM A - Z

Whether you have you own campaign to execute, or you need a full problem analysis and campaign solution executed, Tilton Safety Group is ready with the required tools and experience.

Part of any successful campaign is understanding the target audience, and the range of tools available to communicate the desired message.

We have experience in variety of methods to communicate campaign messages:

  • Hi Def Videos
  • PSAs
  • Web and social media presence
  • Live events (large and small)
  • Never Ever clinics
  • Standard basic training
  • Vetted advanced training

In 2008 the USMC was facing unacceptable Marine  losses due to off duty motorcycle mishaps. The Tilton Safety Group was asked to investigate possible solutions to this problem. After extensive, on the ground research with Marine riders across the country, TSG recommended a series of actions that resulted in the development of the Semper Ride motorcycle safety campaign.

This program has involved Movies, PSAs, video tutorials, a website, numerous awareness events, and more recently, vetted advanced training clinics provide by Americas top motorcycle schools.

Since it's inception, annual fatalities have fallen 40% since the peak fatality year of 2008.

The DOD wanted a cross branch motorcycle safety campaign to service all branches of service. Tilton Safety Group in conjunction with it's affiliates worked with all five branches to develop a branded series of PSAs with a supporting social media structure. The program also surveyed participants fort he programs efficacy.

By using realistic scenarios from both service members careers and lifestyles, matched with motorcycle racing and street riding, TSG was able to creatively communicate riding safety messages that spoke to all riders, regardless of their service branch.

By using their extensive industry contacts, TSG was able to bring some of America's top motorcycle talent to contribute.

HI-DEF FILM PRODUCTION

full Length movies

case study 1

The Semper Ride movie was created and conceived by Tilton Safety Group and its affiliates to provide a fresh perspective on motorcycle riding for US Marines. Prior to this, Marines were dying in off-duty mishaps at an alarming rate (25 in 2008 alone). There was a distinct lack off understanding between riders and command.

Semper Ride the movie was designed to not only educate new and existing riders of the proper path to take in their motorcycle careers, but also to show Marine riders that command "gets it".

SPORT BIKE TRAINING

picking up where MSF leaves off

taking training to the next more advanced level is key to any riders safe progression.

MSF training is an important part of any rider's education. It is the foundation that can be built upon by experience or further training. Our vetted schools safely improve riders abilities in a systematic manner. These courses also serve to teach people that performance riding only makes sense in controlled venues such as a racetrack or closed runway.

These events are typically broken down into groups based on rider skills and expertise, so everyone will be challenged, but not overwhelmed.

Schools we have worked with:

Types of training:

  • Jason Pridmore's STAR School
  • California Superbike School
  • Total Control Advanced Riding Clinics
  • Track days at racetrack
  • Track days at a runway
  • Intermediate to advanced skills drills

creative PSAs

case study 2

The Military Rider PSAs were part of a full motorcycle safety communications campaign produced for the Department of Defense. Tilton Safety Group and it's affiliates created, developed, and produced  three PSAs (sample at left).

By using professional athletes and realistic street and military lifestyle scenarios we were able to produce a high quality engaging education/awareness tool to communicate across all service branches.

video tutorials

tutorials allow for  consistent and correct

education

Video tutorials have a range of uses. They can be designed for Internet delivery or for classroom use. These videos are especially useful to control the information disseminated through clubs or more grass routes education programs. We have seen well intentioned "club" instructors disseminate incomplete or incorrect information. By using tutorials you actually have a vetted expert in the room by way of video.

Internet distributions increases the audience and effectiveness and allows users to reference them on their own schedule.

topics

Every user or campaign will have their own education priorities, below is a partial list of suggested topics:

  • Basic Road Motorcycle Ownership
  • PPE
  • Mechanics/Maintenance
  • Attitude
  • Braking
  • Cornering
  • Advanced Techniques
  • Track Days
  • Public Road Hazards
  • Off Road Bike Ownership
  • Enduro Riding
  • Motocross
  • Bike Bikes and Cruisers
  • Supermotos
  • Touring
  • Military and State Regulations
  • Human Factors
  • Weather

DIRT BIKE TRAINING

dirt biking is a good place to start and a great place to stay

Dirt biking styles we teach:

  • Never Evers
  • Novice riders
  • Enduro
  • Motocross

dirt biking teaches better bike control, offers more opportunities for performance riding, and is a more forgiving medium.

Dirt biking allows riders two advantages: one is no traffic or road hazards to worry about, and a more forgiving medium when mistakes are made. Combine that with todays advanced PPE technology for dirt bikers, and it can have far less risk than other forms of motorcycling.

Match this with the fact that riders typically have far more opportunities for performance riding than sport or street bikes. That makes dirt biking a preferred activity for the more risk taking riders that are prone to want to push their personal limits.

Our course are strictly broken up by ability and have high student to teacher ratios, We vetted our programs to ensure not only the quality of the course instruction, but also the sport value as well. In many cases we have active pros working along side our students.

ALL AROUND TRAINING

AMERICAN SUPERCAMP

Skills taught:

  • Balance
  • Body Position
  • Braking
  • Cornering
  • Slidding
  • Correcting a loss of control

this is the only camp that enables riders to experience a loss of bike control, and how to recover, in a no consequence environment.

American Supercamps is like no other  for a number of reasons. This camp teaches motorcycling fundamentals that are common to any form of riding from dirt, to street, to sport bike.

A key skill to reduce motorcycle mishaps is the riders ability to instinctively correct the bike when there is a lose of control. This course allows riders to practice this in a no consequence format. By using small 125 cc bikes on a flat small track where speeds are limited, riders can and will experience lose of control, and quickly learn what to do to correct it.

Again, groups are formed based on ability. And though it isn't a beginner course, it is suitable for novices and above from any riding discipline.

This is one of our funnest course taught by pros, and it isn't unusual to see local pro out there participating with the rest of the group, it's that much fun!

FEEDBACK DOCUMENTATION

documentation is essential to evaluate program effectiveness

by using a combination of physical or online survey resources we get the feedback every program needs

Every campaign or safety program must be evaluated on it's own merits. We can work with clients to implement their own survey programs, or we can help develop a targeted survey solution.

Asking the right questions is the key to usable data collection in program evaluation. Knowing motorcyclists the way we do, we know the questions to ask to tell whether the campaign or one of it's elements is getting the right message across.

Collected data is one thing, presenting it in an easily digestible format is another. We specialize in graphic solutions that make data evaluation easy, from program administrator all the way up to program director.

GENERAL CONSULTING

let us help you focus on the real problems

not sure where to begin? or just need more detailed analysis of your problem?

Motorcycle mishaps can be more than a simple training issue. We can do an in depth analysis on a national or local level that looks at not just training, but also culture and other factors.

Everything from riders attitudes to bike maintenance to localized weather and traffic conditions can contribute to increased accident rates. Local shops can contribute to your problem, or be of help.

Being bikers ourselves we can 'lift the curtain' as to what's really going on and help come up with effective and proven solutions to bring mishaps rates down.

Our teams have evaluated areas across the country and even in Japan. We have the background to help you.

We can also assist in training facility design including motocross and enduro loops.
